Spartacus

Actors:  Kirk Douglas, Jean Simmons, Peter Ustinov, Lawrence Olivier, Tony Curtis, Charles Laughton
Rating: 9 out of 10, one of true classic epic movies - just a tad bit long and preachy.  Its like – we get it – they’re fighting for their freedom.  This movie is so well done and the cast is an all star team for the time.  The only miss is Curtis – still trying to figure out how a Brooklyn accent landed in ancient Rome.  Douglas in his prime was a great actor and handled the physical aspects with ease – a real athlete.  One of the best scenes in movie history is when the survivors of the last battle all stand and claim to be Spartacus - great double meaning.
MVP:  Douglas in the title role - lives the role and is totally believable
