Priest

Actors:  Paul Bettany, Maggie Q, Christopher Plummer, Karl Urban, Cam Giganent
Rating:  8 out of 10, set in a post apocalyptic world remaining after a race war between vampires and humans where the Catholic Church rules supreme.  Bettany plays a superhuman priest who has been discarded after the defeat of the vampires.  The vampires have now resurged, despite denials by the church, and kidnapped his secret daughter.  Bettany sets out to rescue his daughter and save the world from a former priest (Urban) now leading the vampires.  That's a lot of plot in a short movie but this movie is another adaptation of a graphic novel and this one translates well.  The entire cast plays it straight and Bettany displays a lot of layers in his portrayal.  There are a lot of shocking moments and the special effects are first rate.  Urban, usually the good guy, does a great job as the villain, but wastes a lot of time which allows the good guys to catch up to him.  Maggie Q is phenomenal as the priestess and suppressed love interest.  A great popcorn movie.
MVP:  Maggie Q as the priestess kicking ass and looking good while she's doing it.
