Predators

Actors:  Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Lawrence Fishburne, Walton Goggins, Alice Braga, Danny Tejo, Oleg Taktarov
Rating:  8 out of 10, this attempted regeneration of the Predator franchise actually worked for me.  Transporting the action to the predator's home game reserve was a great idea.  The biggest surprise for me was Brody; he was extremely believable as the ex-special forces mercenary.  If you told me ahead of time that he had been cast in this role I would have laughed based on his earlier roles but he carried it off.  The rest of the hunted crew are also very good with Taktarov (one of my favorite character actors) as the stolid Russian and Goggins as the death row convict as the best of the rest. Fishburne also does well in a small part as a survivor from earlier hunts.  The special effects are state of the art and they use enough real world effects instead of relying completely on CGI to make it believable.  The only downer was the insertion of a race war among the predators, it was almost impossible to figure out what the factions were and why this wasn't better explained.  I really enjoyed this.
MVP:  Brody as the totally unexpectedly dangerous Royce
