The Centurion

Actors:  Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, David Morrisey, Olga Kurylenko
Rating:  8 out of 10, extremely bloody but very entertaining epic set in Roman controlled Britain. This movie was very similar to the The Eagle but the acting is clearly superior.  The lone downer in this movie was Kurylenko as the villain.  Whoever thought an emaciated model had the physical presence to carry off a warrior woman was sadly mistaken, even with taking out her tongue and painting her various colors.  Fassbender shines again in his tough role as an honor bound Roman officer trying to save the remnants of a destroyed army.  Most of the movie is spent following the group running from the Picts but the scenery is breathtaking and well worth the watch.  The battle scenes are extremely well done and this movie sets a record for the number of beheadings, although they make it look a lot easier than it probably was.  There are heads popping off with just a cross look and there's blood splashing everywhere.  This ends up as a great action movie with very likable heroes and the code of military brotherhood as central motivation.
MVP:  Fassbender as the indomitable centurion Quinus Arias
