The Ten Commandments

Actors:  Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter, Edward G Robinson, Yvonne DeCarlo, John Derek, Debra Paget, Nina Foch
Rating:  8 out of 10, one the the true classics of my youth, a movie that left me slack jawed in amazement with the special effects, still impressive considering they were attempted in the 1950s.  An epic that takes the story of Moses and makes a crackling good movie out of it.  Heston was truly epic but the rest of the cast was almost his equal, with Brynner at his evil, regal best.  The music is so powerful it's like a character by itself.  This movie packs real emotion, especially when the slaves finally leave Egypt.  Before watching this on blu ray I had only seen this movie on broadcast TV and never realized how much of the movie had been cut.  This is a great movie.
MVP:  Heston as Moses doing what he does best, lending character and gravitas
