Actors: Peter Sellers, Shirley MacLain, Melvyn Douglas, Richard Dysart, Jack Warden
Rating: 7 out of 10, superb satire on the illusion of celebrity. You have to see this from the absolute beginning to understand the perfect tone of the satire. A true innocent thrust into national celebrity because we are all in such a rush to embrace the next big thing. Sellers is so good in this and I loved the reactions of people who knew what Chauncey really was as he rockets to stardom. This movie also has one of the best endings in cinema history – just a superb, understated moment of shock.
MVP: Sellers as the cluelessly innocent Chauncey is perfect
